Brush Roll Series
Disk Brush Roll
The Disk Type Brush Roll is designed for de-scaling, de-greasing, and cleaning of strip surfaces in industries such as steel and non-ferrous metals. Our company produces custom brush rolls to meet the specific needs of customers, utilizing directly extruded bristles for various applications, from ultra-thin foils to steel descaling.
Disk Type
A method of brush manufacturing in which holes are punched into the curved surface of a disk-shaped steel plate, and brush filaments are inserted. These disk plates are then stacked to form the brush roll.
Disk Type Features
The disk layering method enables the creation of Brush Rolls with customizable densities. High-density Brush Rolls can maintain internal pressure for extended periods, making them suitable for demanding brushing tasks.
- Consistent Quality: Brushes with minimal gaps can be produced, supporting high-density operations. The ability to maintain elevated layering pressure over time is ideal for intensive tasks.
- Hair Loss Mitigation: Filament implantation in each perforation prevents continuous hair loss, with the option for partial repairs by replacing the disk.
- Implantation Methods: Three filament implantation methods are available, allowing flexibility to meet specific quality and cost needs.

Disk Cassette Brush Roll
Designed in the format of a DISK TYPE BRUSH, this product is not pre-stacked on a roll shaft. Instead, it is supplied as modular blocks of specific lengths tailored to the required dimensions. End users can easily assemble these blocks onto the roll shaft for efficient operation.
Disk Cassette Type Features
- Reduction in Transportation Cost : There is no need to move the Brush Shaft. Therefore, the transportation cost and time required for removing and delivering the Brush Roll can be saved.
- Reduction in Spare Shafts : Since the cassette assembly can be installed directly at the customer’s site, the number of spare shafts can be reduced.
-
Improved Brush Quality : Each disk is secured with a dedicated key, eliminating clearance between the cassette brush and the shaft. This significantly reduces shaft wear.
- ※ Shaft wear is a major cause of vibration and noise in Brush Rolls.
Manufacturing Process
Spiral Brush Roll
Brush Filaments are continuously planted into a steel hoop, which is then wound in a spring-like form around the outer diameter of the roll shaft to produce a spiral brush roll.
Spiral Type
Spiral Type Features
- Lightweight Design: Allows for a lighter design compared to the Disk Type.
- Economic Production: Offers a more cost-effective production process compared to the Disk Type.
- Hairing Methods: Two different hairing methods are available, which can be modified according to the required quality and cost specifications.

Three Key Factors in Determining Brush Specifications
When determining Brush Roll specifications, three fundamental criteria must be reviewed.
- Brush Filament
- Roll Structure
- Operating Conditions
By reviewing the following items, Brush Rolls can be designed to match the purpose and environment of each line.
-
Selection of Brush Filament (Basic Material Considerations)
- Nylon Material : Chosen according to application and operating environment. Hard nylon is suitable for heavy grinding, while soft nylon is used for fine brushing (cleaning). Materials with acid resistance or heat resistance are also available for harsh environments.
- Abrasive Material : When using abrasive-added filaments, the impact on the strip must be carefully considered. Abrasive Brush Rolls are used even in lines where cleaning is the primary process.
- Filament Outer Diameter :A thicker filament is suitable for heavy grinding. A thinner filament is suitable for fine brushing (cleaning). Increasing the filament diameter enhances grinding force, while decreasing it improves fine cleaning capability.
- Brush Filaments serve two main functions.
The role of the Brush Filament consists of (A) transmitting force to the tip of the Brush Filament and (B) performing abrasion by contacting the strip.
By optimizing these two functions, effective brushing performance can be achieved.

- Roll Outer Diameter : Changing the roll diameter determines brushing intensity. If an existing Brush Roll Stand is used, mechanical limitations must be reviewed.
- Brush Trim (Length) : Selected considering brush roll life and brushing performance.
- Brush Roll Type : Two types are available: Disk Type and Spiral Type.
To maintain stable quality and achieve target performance, the following must be considered.
- Applied Pressure
- Brush Spray : For nylon Brush Filaments, spray is extremely important. The primary purposes of brush spray are the removal of frictional heat generated at the contact point between the Brush Filament and the strip, and the removal of contaminants (iron residue) generated on the workpiece after brushing. In addition, the spray flow rate and the appropriate spray angle are critical factors that must be considered to improve brushing quality.
